About this Georgia paycheck calculator
This is the CalcPaid paycheck calculator with Georgia already selected. Enter your pay and how often you are paid, and it estimates your 2026 take-home pay after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and Georgia income tax.
It runs the same calculation as the US Paycheck Calculator. If you work in a different state, choose it in the calculator above.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Your figures are never sent to a server, written to the address bar or stored. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, which sees that this page was opened, not what you typed into it. The privacy page has the detail.
What the calculator applies for Georgia
- Georgia income tax is a flat 4.99%. The same rate applies to all of your Georgia taxable income, whatever your filing status.
- Pre-tax deductions lower your Georgia wages. Health, dental and vision premiums, FSA and HSA contributions, traditional 401(k) contributions and any other pre-tax deduction you enter all come off your pay before Georgia tax is worked out.
- A standard deduction comes off next. The calculator subtracts a standard deduction of $15,000 if you are single, married filing separately or head of household, or $30,000 if you are married filing jointly, and applies the 4.99% to what is left.
- The calculator uses 4.99% for the whole year. Georgia cut its rate to 4.99% for 2026 in May, backdated to January. Employers kept withholding at 5.19% until July, so paychecks from the first half of the year took out a little more than this; the difference comes back when you file.
- The overtime and tips exclusion is not applied. For 2026 to 2028 Georgia also lets you exclude up to $1,750 of qualified overtime and $1,750 of cash tips from state income. The calculator does not apply that exclusion.
- Nothing else is added for Georgia. The calculator takes out no Georgia payroll contribution and no city or county income tax.
- Checked at the source. CalcPaid’s 2026 data records the 4.99% rate and the standard deductions as checked against the Georgia Department of Revenue’s page on the 2026 income tax changes and against HB 463, signed in May 2026. The data names no separate source for the 5.19% withholding rate or the overtime and tips exclusion.
An estimate, not your pay stub
The result is an annualized estimate rather than an exact payroll withholding calculation. Your employer’s payroll system works pay period by pay period, using the withholding forms you filed and your year-to-date pay — information this calculator does not have — so the figure on a given paycheck can fall either side of the one shown here.
Your pay stub is the authority on what was actually withheld, and your tax return is the authority on what you finally owe for the year.
