About this New York paycheck calculator
This is the CalcPaid paycheck calculator with New York already selected. Enter your pay and how often you are paid, and it estimates your 2026 take-home pay after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, New York State income tax and the employee contributions for New York Paid Family Leave and the Disability Benefits Law. If you live in New York City or Yonkers, you can add that city’s tax as well.
It runs the same calculation as the US Paycheck Calculator. If you work in a different state, choose it in the calculator above.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Your figures are never sent to a server, written to the address bar or stored. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, which sees that this page was opened, not what you typed into it. The privacy page has the detail.
What the calculator applies for New York
- New York income tax is progressive, with rates from 3.9% to 10.9%. New York reduced its five lowest tax rates for 2026, and the calculator uses the reduced rates.
- The standard deduction comes off first: $8,000 if you are single or married filing separately, $16,050 if you are married filing jointly and $11,200 if you file as head of household. The rates apply to your New York wages after it.
- Paid Family Leave is 0.432% of your gross wages, up to $411.91 for the year. Gross means gross: health, dental and vision premiums, FSA and HSA contributions and 401(k) contributions do not reduce the wages it is charged on. It is deducted from your pay after tax.
- Disability Benefits Law contributions are 0.5% of wages, up to $0.60 a week. The calculator applies that as $31.20 for the year, so anyone earning more than $6,240 a year pays the full $31.20. The amount is set by state law and does not change from year to year.
- New York City and Yonkers have their own taxes. New York City residents pay an additional city income tax, and Yonkers residents pay a surcharge equal to 16.75% of their New York State tax. Neither is added unless you choose New York City or Yonkers (resident) in the calculator’s “City or county” field. The New York City tax uses the city’s own rates, from 3.078% to 3.876%, on the same taxable income as the state tax.
- Not every figure has been confirmed against a 2026 agency document. The state’s rates and standard deductions come from reputable secondary sources and match the rate cut in New York’s 2026 budget. The Paid Family Leave rate and cap were checked directly against New York’s Paid Family Leave program. The New York City and Yonkers rates are long-standing and no 2026 change was found, but they have not yet been re-checked against a 2026 government document.
An estimate, not your pay stub
The result is an annualized estimate rather than an exact payroll withholding calculation. Your employer’s payroll system works pay period by pay period, using the withholding forms you filed and your year-to-date pay — information this calculator does not have — so the figure on a given paycheck can fall either side of the one shown here.
Your pay stub is the authority on what was actually withheld, and your tax return is the authority on what you finally owe for the year.
