Tennessee Paycheck Calculator

Estimate your take-home pay in Tennessee after federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare.

About this Tennessee paycheck calculator

With Tennessee selected, the calculator estimates your 2026 take-home pay from what you earn, how often you are paid and any deductions you enter. Tennessee does not tax wages, so the only taxes in the estimate are federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare.

It runs the same calculation as the US Paycheck Calculator. If you work in a different state, choose it in the calculator above.

Everything is calculated in your browser. Your figures are never sent to a server, written to the address bar or stored. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, which sees that this page was opened, not what you typed into it. The privacy page has the detail.

What the calculator applies for Tennessee

  • Tennessee does not tax wages. No Tennessee income tax is withheld from your paycheck, and once Tennessee is chosen the calculator notes that only federal taxes come out of your pay.
  • Pre-tax deductions still lower your taxes. Health, dental and vision premiums and HSA and FSA contributions reduce the wages that federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare are charged on. Traditional 401(k) contributions reduce only the wages federal income tax is worked out on.
  • Nothing local to choose. The form offers no city or county tax for Tennessee, and the calculator takes out no Tennessee payroll contribution.
  • Checked at the source. Tennessee’s treatment in the calculator was checked directly against guidance published by the Tennessee Department of Revenue.

An estimate, not your pay stub

The result is an annualized estimate rather than an exact payroll withholding calculation. Your employer’s payroll system works pay period by pay period, using the withholding forms you filed and your year-to-date pay — information this calculator does not have — so the figure on a given paycheck can fall either side of the one shown here.

Your pay stub is the authority on what was actually withheld, and your tax return is the authority on what you finally owe for the year.
