About this Mississippi paycheck calculator
This is the CalcPaid paycheck calculator with Mississippi already selected. Enter your pay and how often you are paid, and it estimates your 2026 take-home pay after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and Mississippi income tax.
It runs the same calculation as the US Paycheck Calculator. If you work in a different state, choose it in the calculator above.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Your figures are never sent to a server, written to the address bar or stored. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, which sees that this page was opened, not what you typed into it. The privacy page has the detail.
What the calculator applies for Mississippi
- Mississippi income tax is 4% above the first $10,000. The calculator charges nothing on the first $10,000 of Mississippi taxable income and 4% on everything above it, whatever your filing status.
- Pre-tax deductions lower your Mississippi wages. Health, dental and vision premiums, FSA and HSA contributions, traditional 401(k) contributions and any other pre-tax deduction you enter all come off your pay before Mississippi tax is worked out.
- A standard deduction and an exemption come off next. The calculator subtracts a standard deduction of $2,300 if you are single or married filing separately, $4,600 if you are married filing jointly and $3,400 if you are head of household. It then subtracts an exemption of $6,000 if you are single or married filing separately, $12,000 if you are married filing jointly and $8,000 if you are head of household, and works the tax out on what is left.
- The rate is for 2026 only. Mississippi is phasing its rate down over the rest of the decade. The calculator uses the 4% recorded for 2026 and assumes nothing about later years.
- Nothing else is added for Mississippi. The calculator takes out no Mississippi payroll contribution and no city or county income tax.
- These figures have not been confirmed against a 2026 agency document. The 4% rate, the $10,000 threshold, the standard deduction and the exemption come from reputable secondary sources and have not yet been re-checked against a 2026 Mississippi Department of Revenue document.
An estimate, not your pay stub
The result is an annualized estimate rather than an exact payroll withholding calculation. Your employer’s payroll system works pay period by pay period, using the withholding forms you filed and your year-to-date pay — information this calculator does not have — so the figure on a given paycheck can fall either side of the one shown here.
Your pay stub is the authority on what was actually withheld, and your tax return is the authority on what you finally owe for the year.
