Indiana Paycheck Calculator
Estimate your take-home pay in Indiana after federal taxes, Social Security, Medicare and state taxes.
About this Indiana paycheck calculator
This is the CalcPaid paycheck calculator with Indiana already selected. Enter your pay and how often you are paid, and it estimates your 2026 take-home pay after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and Indiana income tax, with county income tax if you choose a county.
It runs the same calculation as the US Paycheck Calculator. If you work in a different state, choose it in the calculator above.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Your figures are never sent to a server, written to the address bar or stored. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, which sees that this page was opened, not what you typed into it. The privacy page has the detail.
What the calculator applies for Indiana
- Indiana income tax is a flat 2.95%. The same rate applies to all of your Indiana taxable income, whatever your filing status.
- Pre-tax deductions lower your Indiana wages. Health, dental and vision premiums, FSA and HSA contributions, traditional 401(k) contributions and any other pre-tax deduction you enter all come off your pay before Indiana tax is worked out.
- An exemption comes off next. The calculator subtracts no standard deduction for Indiana. It subtracts an exemption of $1,000, or $2,000 if you are married filing jointly, and applies the 2.95% to what is left.
- County income tax is added only if you choose a county. All 92 Indiana counties levy their own income tax. The calculator’s “City or county” field starts on “No local income tax” and lists five of the largest: Marion County (Indianapolis) at 2.02%, Allen County (Fort Wayne) at 1.59%, Hamilton County at 1.1%, Lake County at 1.5% and St. Joseph County (South Bend) at 1.75%. If you choose one, the calculator charges its rate on your Indiana taxable income, after the exemption — the same amount the 2.95% is charged on — and shows it under that county’s name.
- For any other county, enter its rate. If you choose “Somewhere else — enter the rate” and type your county’s rate, the calculator charges it on your Indiana wages after pre-tax deductions, before the exemption comes off, and shows it as local income tax.
- Nothing else is added for Indiana. The calculator takes out no Indiana payroll contribution and no local income tax other than the county tax you choose.
- These figures have not been confirmed against a 2026 agency document. The 2.95% rate and the exemption come from reputable secondary sources and have not yet been re-checked against a 2026 Indiana Department of Revenue document. CalcPaid’s data records the five county rates in the same way.
An estimate, not your pay stub
The result is an annualized estimate rather than an exact payroll withholding calculation. Your employer’s payroll system works pay period by pay period, using the withholding forms you filed and your year-to-date pay — information this calculator does not have — so the figure on a given paycheck can fall either side of the one shown here.
Your pay stub is the authority on what was actually withheld, and your tax return is the authority on what you finally owe for the year.
