North Dakota Paycheck Calculator

Estimate your take-home pay in North Dakota after federal taxes, Social Security, Medicare and state taxes.

About this North Dakota paycheck calculator

This is the CalcPaid paycheck calculator with North Dakota already selected. Enter your pay and how often you are paid, and it estimates your 2026 take-home pay after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and North Dakota income tax.

It runs the same calculation as the US Paycheck Calculator. If you work in a different state, choose it in the calculator above.

Everything is calculated in your browser. Your figures are never sent to a server, written to the address bar or stored. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, which sees that this page was opened, not what you typed into it. The privacy page has the detail.

What the calculator applies for North Dakota

  • North Dakota income tax has three rates: 0%, 1.95% and 2.5%. Each filing status has its own schedule. If you are single, the calculator charges 0% on the first $49,575 of North Dakota taxable income, 1.95% from $49,575 to $250,400 and 2.5% on everything above $250,400. If you are married filing jointly, the same rates apply, stepping up at $82,800 and $304,850; if you are married filing separately, at $41,400 and $152,425; and if you are head of household, at $66,400 and $277,600.
  • Pre-tax deductions lower your North Dakota wages. Health, dental and vision premiums, FSA and HSA contributions, traditional 401(k) contributions and any other pre-tax deduction you enter all come off your pay before North Dakota tax is worked out.
  • A standard deduction comes off next. North Dakota starts from federal taxable income, so the calculator uses the federal standard deduction amounts for North Dakota: $16,100 if you are single or married filing separately, $32,200 if you are married filing jointly and $24,150 if you are head of household. It then applies the rates to what is left.
  • Nothing else is added for North Dakota. The calculator takes out no North Dakota payroll contribution and no city or county income tax.
  • These figures have not been confirmed against a 2026 agency document. CalcPaid’s data names the North Dakota Office of State Tax Commissioner as its source and records the 2025 rate schedules for all four filing statuses as confirmed. The 2026 thresholds used here are the 2025 ones indexed by about 2.25%, as reported by payroll publishers, and have not yet been checked against North Dakota’s 2026 Form ND-1 instructions. The use of the federal standard deduction amounts is recorded without a separate North Dakota source.

An estimate, not your pay stub

The result is an annualized estimate rather than an exact payroll withholding calculation. Your employer’s payroll system works pay period by pay period, using the withholding forms you filed and your year-to-date pay — information this calculator does not have — so the figure on a given paycheck can fall either side of the one shown here.

Your pay stub is the authority on what was actually withheld, and your tax return is the authority on what you finally owe for the year.
