South Dakota Paycheck Calculator
Estimate your take-home pay in South Dakota after federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare.
About this South Dakota paycheck calculator
This is the CalcPaid paycheck calculator with South Dakota already selected. Enter how much you earn and how often you are paid, and it estimates your 2026 take-home pay after federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare. South Dakota has no state income tax, so the estimate has none to take out.
It runs the same calculation as the US Paycheck Calculator. If you work in a different state, choose it in the calculator above.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Your figures are never sent to a server, written to the address bar or stored. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, which sees that this page was opened, not what you typed into it. The privacy page has the detail.
What the calculator applies for South Dakota
- South Dakota has never enacted an individual income tax. Nothing in the South Dakota Constitution forbids one — article XI, section 2 gives the legislature the power to tax incomes — but no individual income tax has ever been passed.
- The calculator adds nothing for South Dakota. It takes out no South Dakota income tax, no South Dakota payroll contribution and no city or county income tax.
- Your paycheck still has deductions. In this estimate, what comes out of South Dakota pay is federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare, plus anything you enter as a deduction, such as 401(k) contributions or health insurance premiums.
- How this was checked. No single document states that South Dakota has no income tax, so the calculator’s treatment was checked against the South Dakota Constitution and against the taxes the South Dakota Department of Revenue administers, which include no income tax.
An estimate, not your pay stub
The result is an annualized estimate rather than an exact payroll withholding calculation. Your employer’s payroll system works pay period by pay period, using the withholding forms you filed and your year-to-date pay — information this calculator does not have — so the figure on a given paycheck can fall either side of the one shown here.
Your pay stub is the authority on what was actually withheld, and your tax return is the authority on what you finally owe for the year.
