About this Wisconsin paycheck calculator
This is the CalcPaid paycheck calculator with Wisconsin already selected. Enter your pay and how often you are paid, and it estimates your 2026 take-home pay after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and Wisconsin income tax.
It runs the same calculation as the US Paycheck Calculator. If you work in a different state, choose it in the calculator above.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Your figures are never sent to a server, written to the address bar or stored. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, which sees that this page was opened, not what you typed into it. The privacy page has the detail.
What the calculator applies for Wisconsin
- Wisconsin income tax has four rates. If you are single or head of household, the calculator charges 3.5% on the first $15,110 of Wisconsin taxable income, 4.4% from $15,110 to $51,950, 5.3% from $51,950 to $332,720 and 7.65% on everything above $332,720. If you are married filing jointly, the same rates apply, stepping up at $20,150, $69,260 and $443,630; if you are married filing separately, at $10,080, $34,630 and $221,820.
- Pre-tax deductions lower your Wisconsin wages. Health, dental and vision premiums, FSA and HSA contributions, traditional 401(k) contributions and any other pre-tax deduction you enter all come off your pay before Wisconsin tax is worked out.
- A standard deduction comes off next. The calculator subtracts a standard deduction of $13,960 if you are single, $25,840 if you are married filing jointly, $12,280 if you are married filing separately and $18,030 if you are head of household, and applies the rates to what is left.
- The standard deduction is not reduced at higher incomes. Wisconsin’s standard deduction shrinks as income rises and reaches zero for higher earners. The calculator applies the full amount at every income, so it may understate Wisconsin tax at higher incomes.
- The personal exemption is not applied. Wisconsin also allows a $700 exemption per person. The calculator does not subtract it.
- Nothing else is added for Wisconsin. The calculator takes out no Wisconsin payroll contribution and no city or county income tax.
- Checked at the source. CalcPaid’s 2026 data records the Wisconsin rates, the incomes at which each starts and the standard deduction amounts as checked against the Wisconsin Department of Revenue’s 2026 Form 1-ES instructions. The data names no separate source for the $700 exemption.
An estimate, not your pay stub
The result is an annualized estimate rather than an exact payroll withholding calculation. Your employer’s payroll system works pay period by pay period, using the withholding forms you filed and your year-to-date pay — information this calculator does not have — so the figure on a given paycheck can fall either side of the one shown here.
Your pay stub is the authority on what was actually withheld, and your tax return is the authority on what you finally owe for the year.
